To understand the Bible and Bible prophecy you first need to understand who the Bible is about.  And here’s a big hint: the who isn’t you (or me).  We’re minor characters in it.  The entire Bible was written because sin entered creation.  And because sin entered creation, a perfect God had to deal with this aberration one way or another.  The way He has chosen to deal with it ends up being a demonstration of the most important attribute of His character: faithful love.  Because of sin, all of creation is able to learn the depth of God’s love in a way that could otherwise never be known.

The who is the Promised Seed—the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  And through faith, everyone is invited to be joined to that Seed.  To understand the prophecy of the Seed and who this Seed is, is to understand Bible prophecy and the whole story of the Bible.

And I fell at [the angel’s] feet to worship him.  But he said to me, ‘See that you do not do that!  I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus.  Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Revelation 19:10

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!  This is the One I meant when I said, ‘A Man who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me… He must increase, but I must decrease.’ “

– John 1:29–303:30
