Rejoice in the Trials

Hope in the midst of trials

Diary of a Quadriplegic

I’ve been lying in bed almost 3 months now. I am feeling so agitated. I’m so used to getting up every day and getting into my wheelchair. I love having the freedom to go outside, to be able to smell the fresh air and look at the flowers in bloom during this time of year. I love leaning my chair back and letting the sun warm my face. It feels so good, and I miss it. I was unable to use my wheelchair at the hospital, and now I’m at a new place one hour from my home and my wheelchair has not yet been transported here. I look forward to finally getting it next week.

Thank You Lord!

This morning I fell down and broke two bones in my wrist. (Ouch!)

The trauma that ensued from that moment was frightening.  I couldn’t drive, I was alone and in severe pain. My husband and daughter were both at work. Due to the nature of their jobs, I was  not able to call them.  So, I started walking to the doctor’s surgery hanging on to my arm.  By then my wrist looked deformed and swollen.

Everyday my husband calls me at 1.30 PM from work. That’s when he has his lunch break. Today he called me at 12.50 PM as I was making my way to the doctor.  Why?, for today only they changed his lunch break.

My husband arrived within an hour. X-Ray revealed the severe damaged. But praise God I had my husband to drive to the physiotherapist to have it attended to.

I am in pain, yes!   But knowing that our God is control fills me with joy and peace.

I am so thankful is the left wrist.   We fly to New Zealand in two weeks, I am so thankful I don’t need surgery or our pre paid holiday (vacation), would’ve been forfeited. Most of all I am so grateful that the Lord said. “ I will never leave you nor forsake you “.

Naked and Humiliated

Powerful post!

Where Living Begins

No one enjoys being humiliated. People go to great lengths – even to murder – to avoid exposure and humiliation.

Corrie ten Boom (1892-1983) was interred in a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2. She was there with her Christian parents and sister for hiding Jews during the Holocaust. In her biography, The Hiding Place, she wrote of being humiliated by the German guards. Every Friday, the skin and bone prisoners, starved, unwashed, and sickly, were stripped naked and forced to parade before the soldiers. She wrote:

I had read a thousand times the story of Jesus’ arrest – how soldiers had slapped Him, laughed at Him, flogged Him. Now such happenings had faces and voices…. He hung naked on the cross…. The paintings, the carved crucifixes showed at the least a scrap of cloth. But this, I suddenly knew, was the respect and reverence of the artist. But oh…

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:14-21

Our pastor this morning preached from Ephesians 3:14-21.  Among other things he said we do not pray only for ourselves, but for others and our concerns for them. All members of God’s family should encourage one another and pray for one another along these lines.

Can you comprehend being filled with the fullness of God?, can you grasp the love of God in Christ for us? Or Christ dwelling in our hearts through faith?, we? sinful vile creatures. Oh, how we need to be strengthen with His power through His Spirit.

As the Apostle Paul asks God to help the Ephesians, so I would like to pray for all of you my beloved family in Christ.

  • May God strengthen you, with His power, through His Spirit, in your inner being.
  • May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith.
  • May you put down roots in love, and in love lay your foundation.
  • May you be empowered with all the holy ones, to grasp how wide and long and deep and high is the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
  • May you be filled to all the fullness of God.

May God be glorified in His people.

The Modern Blasphemy

“But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.””
‭‭ACTS‬ ‭5:1-4‬

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:7-14‬ ‭
