The salesman in the store greeted me by asking, “How’s life treating you?” I paused a moment and answered, “Not very well.” Clearly uncomfortable with my answer, he fell silent.
We live in a fallen, sinful world under the curse and judgment of the Almighty God. Life has not treated me well. I get sick and am dying. I see violence and poverty all around me. Man knows no limits to his cruelty toward his fellow man.
While life has not treated me well, God has been very good to me.
Life gives me what I deserve; but God shows me love, mercy, and grace unending.
To attribute the good things in my life to life itself, is a subtle form of idolatry.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Because His mercy endures forever(Psalm 118:1).

Thanks, Crissy. Yes, I know what it’s like to live life with God tucked away in a shoebox (figuratively speaking), only to be taken out when I needed Him versus being aware of the Lord’s presence and power and being in communion with Him throughout the entire day.
