It was loud, the noise that woke me up the other night. Was there someone outside my door? Yikes!! how can that be? there is no one here but me. No neighbours yet, I am the first person to move into this housing complex. Hmmm, I would need to investigate🧐
Turning the lights on was not an option for me, as I would be seen from the street, I had to think quickly, time is of the essence, I reached for my iPhone and switched on the flash light. Filled with a braveness I did not feel I proceeded to step out of the bed to find the source of the unusual noise.
AND it was then that I saw the MONSTER!!! ……..there he was, on the recently painted white wall, illuminated by the flash light and sporting a body the size of a crocodile, with the antenna high up in the air in defiance, bulging eyes stunned by the flashlight fixed squarely on me, there was no escape. Not sure who was more terrified at that moment the cockroach or me.
Anyone that knows me well, will tell you that cockroaches cause me to go through the “twenty fears”. Whenever I have an encounter with this creatures I usually SCREAM and someone quickly comes to rescue me. But not this time, OH NAW, no one to rescue me that night, just me and the cockroach on the white wall.
By then I had forgotten all about the noise that put me in this predicament in the first place.
I asked Jesus to make me strong and courageous!!! With my heart racing I looked around for a weapon, I saw a small box. I picked it up in my shaking hands and hit the intruder with it. First strike failing miserably as the “ugly thing” landed on the floor near my foot. Argh! I then hit it repeatedly with the box until it was dead and flat as a pancake.
YES, I claimed victory that night! I thanked the Lord and went back to sleep.
(So grateful the monster didn’t fly)🙏🙏
“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalms 34:4
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Psalms 4:8
That is FUNNY, Oh Mighty Conquerer! 😂 Congrats on the new place!!!! What WONDERFUL news!!! ❤

Thanks for the funny story, Crissy, and for the bigger lesson of Jesus’s reassurance in times of fear and trouble. I’m glad to hear you’re in your new home. It’s definitely a transition being on your own – I went through that many years ago myself. I pray the Lord gives you peace and comfort in your new place!

“He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” You won the victory through the box, the same box brought the cockroach defeat.
I have a strong dislike of slugs after a childhood encounter stepping on one in the dark. My greater fear is that when I kill one, all of its friends and family will hunt me down! 🙂 Dun-dun-dunnnnn.

Funny! But there’s so many life’s moments like those in which we have to be courageous and pray and trust in God; thanks for sharing! From reading this I imagine you have your own place?
