“Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
James 1:12
“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”
1 Peter 5:10
“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
James 1:2-4
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:3-5
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
1 Peter 4:12-14

Great post Crissy. Over the years of health issues I have come to the acceptance of trials, seeing them as a great opportunity for the gospel and for me to draw closer to God.

So true Alan. We don’t pray or trials, but it is through them that we learn to trust in our Father’s promises and grow in our knowledge of Him.

We often feel as if trials are sent our way by God [or Satan] to break us down, but as you’ve shown, God sends trials to reveal His strength in the midst of our weaknesses …. “through it all”.

Crissy, thank you for the encouragement from God’s Word! Trials are difficult (and more plentiful as we age), but they do bring us closer to the Lord.
