Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’”
Matthew 7:15-23 NASB
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.”
2 Peter 2:1 NASB
“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”
Matthew 24:24
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”
Colossians 2:8 NASB

Thanks, Crissy! Absolutely true! In addition to the Scripture passages, I also appreciate the quote from Justin Peters. It’s quite ironic to me that a WordPress blogger who “amens” this post is a propagator of Roman Catholicism’s false gospel.

Deception is so powerful and blind straight from hell, that the deceived person can’t see how deceived they are and what makes it worse they reject truth . It’s a kind of pride that have thinking they know .
OH BUT THE GRACE OF GOD 🙏🙏

I remember my MANY encounters with three Christians at my workplace forty-years ago when I was still Roman Catholic. I thought I was as much of a Christian as they were. I could “play along” with them by also talking about God and “faith” and “grace.” After all, my Catholic church had 1900 years of history and tradition unlike their Protestant churches. Yes, I had so much pride in my institutional church. The Lord led me out of that deception via His Word and the faithful witness of those three men. They were so joyous after I finally accepted Jesus. I lost touch with the three when I transferred to a different Kodak facility in 1985, but I think of them often. So grateful.

Good warning passages; these verses mandate Christian discernment yet many Christians don’t practice that!
