My faith in Jesus Christ is what comes first’: Israel Folau says he’ll quit rugby if God wants him to
Mon 15 Apr 2019 By Eno Adeogun
Christian Australian rugby star Israel Folau has been sacked for posting on social media a warning about who is destined for hell.
Folau’s employers said his post (below) breached their Professional Players’ Code of Conduct.
However, the sportsman has said he stands by his comments.
The 30-year-old’s post read: “Drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, idolaters – hell awaits you!”
Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald, the fullback said the row erupted over his comments has not prompted him to change his stance.
“First and foremost, I live for God now,” he said in his first interview since the controversy over his recent comments began.
“His plans for me are better than whatever I can think. If that’s not to continue playing, so be it.

“In saying that, obviously I love playing footy and if it goes down that path I’ll definitely miss it. But my faith in Jesus Christ is what comes first.
“In Ezekiel, chapter 33, verse 11, it says that ‘God has no pleasure in the person that’s living in sin’
“He’s a loving God and he wants people to turn away from what they’re living in and he’ll give them life. That’s the message I’m trying to share, even though it comes across as harsh.
“I can’t change what the word of God says. As we heard today, those that live for Christ will be persecuted for his name.
“I have love towards everyone that might be saying negative things. I choose to love them because God loves me.”
Israel Folau breaks down in tears as he encourages church members to stand up for their faith

Video has emerged of the Christian Australian rugby star Israel Folau fighting back tears as he delivered a sermon at his church about standing up to employers that challenge religious beliefs.
The Wallabies player is facing a code of conduct hearing on Saturday to determine whether his $4 million contract will be terminated for posting on social media a warning about all those destined for hell.
A man after God’s own heart. That’s commitment. 🙂 Thank you for posting this, Sonrisa!

I am proud of a man like Mr Folau and am reminded that God’s grace is always sufficient for us in every need.
It has always been costly to be a follower of Jesus and honor Him with the daily Christian life. Millions have had more than their jobs, income, or reputations taken, but their mortal lives. This growing kind of tribulation truly sifts Christ’s groupies from His genuine disciples.

Is interesting to note that out of all the sinful acts recorded in Galatians 5, this young man is being attacked and accused only of being anti gay. I truly believe we are only beginning to see what’s coming to the west. Even our prime minister who is a professing “Christian”, did not side with him. This action fits into your last sentence perfectly.

He has said what the men in the pulpit should have been warning the people of for years.
