“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalms‬ ‭118:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Yesterday I had a job. Today I am unemployed. Restructure in the company I used to work for, resulted in the loss of jobs for many including myself.

It happened so quickly, I wasn’t prepared for the outcome.  An unexpected storm took me by surprise and it was blowing in my direction.

The termination day was fast was approaching. Tears flooded my pillow at night.   In the midst of it all I was trying to comfort myself by prayerfully hoping the payout will be good. But, disappointment hit me like a slap in the face when I was given the final figure.

Indirectly I started questioning God, then guilt took over- Who am I to question God?.

Not only have I lost my job, but because of it we now have to move location.

Fear and anxiety decided to be my best friends.

BUT GOD brought Psalm 23 into my distress.  “The Lord is my Shepherd”    as I read each word of this Psalm, a powerful change began to take place in me.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Psalms‬ ‭23:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

My fear was going and my anxiety was turning into confidence, not in myself but in the Lord, my Shepherd.

How wonderful and faithful is our Abba Father!

As I continued to read God’s Word, the way I was looking at my situation began to change. I am full of joy knowing that the God creation is in control.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121:1-2‬ ‭

Psalms‬ ‭121:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.”

Psalms‬ ‭118:29‬

God in His Sovereignty knew this day was coming. It did not take Him by surprise.

As I put my trust in Him to guide me through this valley, I can echo King David’s words, ““Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
