“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge until these calamities be over past”
Psalm 57:1
I don’t usually review books. But, I enjoyed this book so much that I decided to make an exception. The moment I began to read, I could not put the book down. A powerful true story of Anita Dittman’s remarkable journey of courage, faith and forgiveness during the Second World War. Anita was just 10 old when the war began in Germany. Raised by her Jewish mother, she came to believe that Jesus Christ was her Messiah at just eight years old. Her story will encourage your faith and fill you with hope. God is faithful! Anita learned to trust Him and depend on Him moment by moment as she desperately fought for survival.
I was encouraged to read how God in His Sovereignty allowed situations in Anita’s life that although difficult to understand at the time, would later work out for Anita’s protection and for His Glory.

Trapped in Hitler’s Hell is a first-person account of a young German Jewish girl’s trials, tragedies, and triumphs in the years before, during and after World War II — a wonderful book on so many levels, appealing to every aspect of soul and spirit.

“It’s a cliff-hanging adventure story to rival the finest I’ve ever read. I found it nearly impossible to put down. Most importantly, it’s a story of complete faith in the Lord Jesus Christ — in the childlike trust He wants us all to have as we labor through earthly lives that are plagued by loss. It is, in fact, a story that shows us precisely what it means to live for the Lord — and to take Him at His word when He promises, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’
“My only criticism is that, at just over 200 pages, Trapped in Hitler’s Hell is too short. The author has done a magnificent job of giving readers just enough detail to feed our imaginations, without bogging us down. But as quickly as I raced through its pages, desperate to find out what happened to this daughter and her mother, I was very sad to turn the last page. I did not want this girl’s story to end.
“My thanks to Anita Dittman and her talented biographer, Jan Markell, for an unforgettable, faith-building book! It will put everyone’s trials in perspective.” —
God’s people do not need to fear. God delivers. And if He does not deliver, He sustains. And if He does not sustain, He receives us into His everlasting arms – for He is sovereign! God be praised.
It sounds so interesting! I’m going to put it on my ‘to read list!’ Thank you!

Sonrisa, thanks for sharing your enthusiasm about this story. Her witness under incredibly challenges is a witness to God’s awesome presence. I agree that we sometimes don’t want a story to end.
