“And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fattened steer will be together; And a little boy will lead them.
Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.

They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea.”

Isaiah‬ ‭11:6-9‬ ‭

Spending a lovely sunny afternoon a few weeks ago as an aspiring horticulturalist, an “unidentified flying object” landed on my working glove.

Screaming with terror like never before in my life, I soon realised that the “object” of my almost death by “instant-heart-attack” was DEAD.   Valiantly, in a brave moment,  I removed my mobile phone from my back pocket and took a couple of photos.  After all who would ever believe my description of this monster.
Then with a sense of urgency I began  messaging  for help.

I needed to know what had landed on my hand that frightful afternoon.  Was it poisonous?, Could it be playing dead ?, or maybe it was stunned by my noisy reaction to it?, Was my life at risk?,  So many questions and the imagery going through my head at the time was causing distress and fear.

I sent the photos of the invader to several people with questions attached.   Soon the responses began flooding in:

–  “No idea what it is, be careful”,

-“YUCK, disgusting”

“ Mum you always find the strangest things “

“ It’s a dangerous wasp, I wouldn’t touch it”

It’s a dragon fly, bite causes pain but is not poisonous, you’ll be ok”

-“It is a Mayfly” ( I knew this person was wrong we are in November🤣)

As I kept reading all the responses I was alerted to the fact that the “whatever it was” was not on my glove anymore.  It went away the same way it landed, mysteriously.

Needless to say I now do my gardening in full armour.
