I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own … And other sheep I have with are not of this fold; them also I must bring; and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:14, 16, 27)
John 9 records the story of Jesus healing a man born blind from birth. The man’s friends and family naturally questioned how such a miracle occurred. The man didn’t know who healed him, all he knew was that he could see.
The crowd took the now-seeing man to the religious leaders of Israel for questioning. Once again he told the story, but they doubted him and called his parents. Fearful of the interrogation, they refused to answer, deferring back again to their son.
For our getaway we chose a beautiful place in Sydney called Manly. Manly has a beautiful beach, quaint little restaurants and quirky shops with lots friendly people.
We both loved the ocean so the place we chose was perfect for us.
Every morning we would walk on the beach and admired the vast ocean as the waves roared on the seashore. How can one not be filled with awe at the God of all creation? even more criminal and foolish how can ANYONE even deny His existence?
As we walked on the beach, the sand got my attention and two Scripture verses came to my mind.
THE PROMISE TO ABRAHAM
“And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”” Genesis 22:15-18
THE PROMISE FULFILLED IN JESUS CHRIST
In the book of Revelation we see a “great multitude that no one could number”
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.””
Revelation 7:9-12 ESV
How amazing, how awesome is this God who created everything!
In His mercy God reached out to sinful humanity heading for eternal judgement in the person on Jesus Christ offering the free gift of salvation to all who would believe. HOW CAN I BE SAVED?
A couple of weeks ago, I was ending another day by lying in bed and channel surfing, as is my habit, when I came across an episode of “The Profit” television show with host, Marcus Lemonis (photo left). The premise of the show is that no-nonsense Marcus tries to help small business owners grow their enterprise.
In this particular episode, Marcus was down in Miami working with Ana Quincoces (photo right). Ana and her small company were producing a variety of flavorful sauces/marinades under her “Skinny Latina” brand name, but weren’t making much headway into the already over-crowded and competitive sauce/condiment market.
Marcus could see right away that one of Ana’s biggest problem was the labeling on the sauce bottles. There were a couple of issues:
The labels prominently featured the brand name “Skinny Latina,” and an illustration of the “Skinny Latina” character. The name and character closely resembled the…
(Voice of the Persecuted) My dear brothers and sisters, I feel strongly led to continue our prayers to pray for the lost and those who persecute believers (see Nov. 23rd call details). Corrie Ten Boom’s heart-felt prayer for her persecutors was possible because she was rooted and grounded in Christ. By prayer and His Word, she could be a vessel of His mercy and grace, forgiveness and love. Oh, the precious love of Jesus for these deeply and sadly LOST persecutors! He asked us to pray for our enemies and those who persecute us.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to…
